I started my journey of opening a business last year when I stumbled back onto a site a friend had mentioned years ago, Etsy. I was making stuff ALL OF THE TIME because I was at a place in my life where I felt I needed to create to have a more positive balance in my life. I was so confused about the process of obtaining a license and getting everything together, so I put it to the backburner while I focused on my busy school schedule. You need a business license if you plan on selling, in most states. I started contacting organizations and teachers early this year, but many of them were not sure of how the process worked for e-commerce sites. So I decided to take a business class over the summer to get a better handle on things. I also attended a seminar at the local library, which was hosted by another Etsy shop owner. This is so magical. I'm still on cloud 9! I wasn't sure if I'd even tell you but I did for something  the VERY FIRST TIME in 22 years. So ecstatic to be talking to you about this wonderful experience because it was better than I imagined. A little more sticky and messy than I would've hoped but not bad.

Working hard on coming up with ideas for art shows & really making this the year of my art. It's better now than never to really put my head in the game and come up with some creative ideas. There are quite a few art shows I hope to get into so I was happy that when i sat down to create my mind just started churning out idea after idea once I did just a couple. Isn't it amazing how making art can be inspired just by doing it? I'm currently working on a couple projects. Thank you for being my best friend and getting me through times that were tough. Times where it was hard to make a choice but you made the choice of our career over love. In my heart, that still hurts even though I think it might still happen. I know you're an entrepreneur and that means drastic changes in your personality and not always clocking out leisurely. But don't forget to enjoy it. Take breaks from your phone to go wander out into tree land & enjoy a peaceful day zoning out. Quirky Heartmade was my first taste at putting my creative expressions out into the universe and I LOVED it. I loved sharing. I loved creating my own brand and figuring out all the puzzles that come with being an entrepreneur. I loved the learning process, but it had its quirks. Being new to it all, I didn't quite know what to name it. Let me just say that I was cycling through various popular styles as part of my graphic design training, so I really wasn't considering what I wanted my purpose to be in my creations. I just thought "Hey! How about something cute? Kawaii is popular. " Coming from that perspective led to a lot of burnout, so I really wanted to zero in on something personal and on goal that had real purpose. I feel like an anorexic when I don't eat meat. I like the taste of lobster and crab. My best experience yet with dining out has been with a pig that you could tell ate until it was full and was treated well by the farmers.

I am truly excited about what I am working on. Whether you have followed me for a while (and saw the artwork I was doing on SpreadShirt) or just finding my page I am working on a brand of t-shirts & accessories. This accessory line (which will include HANDBAGS!!! aka purses) is in a way a merging of my creative passions: love of fabric and mixed media projects since it gives it a functional purpose to my love of art.  I will still be using this blog. I just have to start this out by saying I completely applaud Ruffles on their logo change!!!! Good job potato chip company!  Not bad at all. That font just perfectly embodies the crunch of a Ruffles potato chip. All those amazing ridges of flavor! Yummy!!!! Ever since my design classes I look at designing and logos and everything completely differently. Designing has become part of me! The air I breathe, the art I make, I completely and wholeheartedly embrace design because it gave a trajectory and view on design and subsequently the things I create. I might not completely make things that are "design" per se because I still have a fine artist in me fighting to break out but design gave me a certain discipline in my art that I might not have had otherwise and it helped me to grow especially with the wonderful teachers that I met along the way! Types of trees & their personality I've always had an obsession with trees ever since I moved out to the suburbs. I would look at the trees and see them dancing or embracing like lovers or friends. I like when they resemble sassy poses or snicker during the dirty looking poses.

Let me preface this by saying I love burlap and the things you can do with it. I was thinking the last couple weeks about using burlap and couldn't think of anything to use on it. I didn't want to follow any tutorials or anything but then I saw my back wall in my room where I had a bundle of burlap next to my abstract expressive emotional painting I did about a month ago. I was completely inspired by the way I just emotionally created the painting and just let the emotions guide my painting so I got out a sheet of burlap I had and just started making loose strokes on the page in red paint not really expecting anything. I started on another sheet with the red stroked burlap sitting right next to it. I had an idea because I had been playing with paint so the first thing I did was complete the second painting with bubbles and flowers and just girly things while letting the ideas dance in my head as to what I wanted to do with the red stroked burlap. Find happiness in doing something creative that allows me to spread positive energy. I would finally have a life of my own and hopefully be able to support myself doing something creative. I had something brought to my attention recently, which I wanted to give some credit for the fact that it makes sense on a certain level. I can't make art while doing everything else, but my passion for creating is there. I know I enjoy creating In every sense of the word I love creating. I want to get better at the things I am creating, so that they are perfected but it gets hard to explain to others what I love doing. I am getting better and learning how to do everything. I'm not exactly sure how to do it so that it's all cohesive. I love photography as much as I love art. One without all the other just isn't the same. I try to add my quirkiness to everything I do so that it makes sense. In my head I envision having my art and products be front and center on a website while everything else is kind of minimalized. I want the products to take center stage. white background....photoshop out the background so that it is just a white area or add a couch or something?

I always enjoyed sewing. There was something so professional and cool about being able to handstitch something. Not to mention my love of drawing things that required fabric. Like outfits & handbags and I don't know about other artists but sometimes I have random visions of creating something I haven't seen much of before and I just wanna do it myself regardless of how often I've seen it or not. One of the things I envision a lot besides home decor (which I wanna get back to) are accessories. I've been working on a handbag and accessory line for a while now. It's all evolved out of the random thoughts I have that I'm like oh cool that would be interesting to recreate. However as many things you have to polish parts that don't look quite as good in real life as they do mentally. I wanna be a mama someday like the mom from being amish. She was so caring & awesome. She had a fire in her but was considerate and treated everyone like family. Such a sweet lady.
